So a strong finish from India, courtesy Ravichandran Ashwin, who cleared his front foot and launched the penultimate delivery from Chamika Karunaratne over midwicket for a massive six. And then, thanks to Wanindu Hasaranga, who failed to hold onto a catch at long-on, Ashwin added two more to the total to remain unbeaten on 15 off 7. India 173/8 in 20 Overs.

Second inning:

Rohit Sharma delivered the team talk in the huddle as Indian players listened to him intently. Sri Lanka openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis are out in the middle to kickstart the chase of 174. Here we go.

Change of ends for Arshdeep Singh. But this has been quite expensive for India – the left-arm pacer has leaked 18 runs. The over began with Kusal Mendis launching a full delivery over extra cover for four before taking a single. Then Pathum Nissanka spotted the slower one hitting the widish delivery over surfaces for four. And then Arshdeep tested Mendis with quick delivery, but the batter pilled it away to midwicket for a maximum. Score 45/0 in 5 Overs, chasing 174.

WICKET! Look at Virat Kohli’sKohli’s reaction. He’s all pumped up. Ravichandran Ashwin has struck for India with the wicket of Danushka Gunathilaka on 1. He went for the aerial shot – lofting one from Ashwin but finding KL Rahul at long-off for a soft dismissal. Sri Lanka 110/3 in 13.5 Overs, chasing 174.

Close to Win:

Hardik Pandya is back for his fourth and final over. And Dasun Shanaka is lucky that an outside edge escaped the grasp of a diving Rishabh Pant for four. And then, after outfoxing Shanaka with a pacy delivery, Pandya dropped it short and paid the price with the Sri Lanka captain guiding it over fine leg for a six. Twelve runs from the over. Sri Lanka 153/4 in 18 Overs, chasing 174.

He had seven runs to defend, but young Arshdeep Singh bowled his heart out to push the contest to the penultimate delivery. Plenty of yorkers from the left-arm pacers, but he didn’t have enough to work with SL doing the job with 1,1,2,1, 2byes. There was a chance at run out off the 5th delivery, but Rishabh Pant didn’t make the direct hit despite all three stumps visible to him and the batter quite far away after racing away to steal a bye. The ball rolled to Arshdeep, who also failed to effect the run out at the non-striker’s end. The missed throw gave SL another chance at stealing a bye and winning by six wickets.

Sri Lanka won this match by six wickets.
